Lucy Jones is Associate Professor in Sociolinguistics at the University of Nottingham, UK. Her published research includes critical linguistic analyses of normativity and identity construction amongst LGBT youth, homophobic discourse in relation to same-sex marriage and HIV prevention, YouTube videos by trans vloggers, and lesbian identity construction (including the book Dyke/Girl: Language and Identities in a Lesbian Group, Palgrave 2012). Her current projects include an analysis of narratives produced by patients at a gender identity clinic, and an ethnographic study of intersectionality and identity in British LGBT youth groups. As part of the latter project, Lucy has developed a briefing paper targeting British policy-makers; this outlines the main policy implications to emerge from her research findings and can be viewed at lgbtmanifesto.co.uk/policy-brief.
